
John F. Kennedy International Airport (IATA: JFK, ICAO: KJFK, FAA LID: JFK) is an international airport located in Queens, in southeastern New York City and about 12 miles (19 km) from Lower Manhattan. The airport was originally known as Idlewild Airport (IATA: IDL, ICAO: KIDL, FAA LID: IDL) in 1948 and was renamed New York International Airport in the same year, though the original name remained in common use.
